I’m back home, and busy working on blog posts to document the last legs of our trip, but in the meantime, I took advantage of all the extra SPACE (nothing like going from 200 square feet to 2600 to give you an appreciation for the ability to spread out!) and whipped up a new athletic set for myself!
Despite having more leggings than I can ever realistically hope to wear in a week, I figured I really deserved a new outfit, since I was so diligent about keeping up with my training over the summer. I even got into some really good cross training, adding in yoga, strength and biking 2-3 times per week.
For my reward, I chose the New Horizons Athena tank, and the Greenstyle Super G’s for this outfit, and I wasn’t disappointed. The dark wine colored supplex pairs perfectly with the athletic lace, both a designer overstock available from the Fabric Fairy.
There’s a brushed feel to the back of the supplex, making it perfect for the cooler weather that will be here before I know it, and the deep hue reminds me of the leaves that are *just* starting to turn around here, heralding the imminent arrival of Fall, in all its glory.
Athena Tank
The process was not without its challenges though- I tried at first to hack the Athena to add binding all around the edges, but failed to fully grasp the construction process, and ended up with a wadder in the process (fortunately, I had the sense to at least try my “hack” with some less precious fabric first).
Frustrated, I decided to admit defeat, and went back to the original pattern- and I’m so glad I did! The reason I initially wanted to add binding was because I was concerned about whether the simple turned under edges would lay flat against my back, but they do, and since I used my cover stitch machine, there’s no danger of popped stitches (if you don’t have a cover stitch, just use a zig zag instead, since this area does need to stretch).
I did make my arm and neck bands slightly narrower than usual, since it seemed more “elegant”- I cut them at 1.75″ rather than the full 2″ the pattern calls for. I’m now looking forward to making some of the other views of this pattern, in all the fall colors!

Super G’s
As you know, if you’ve been reading my blog for any length of time, the Super G’s are a long time favorite, and the side stripe/pocket was the perfect opportunity to showcase more of the gorgeous lace. The fit is perfect, as usual, and I can’t wait for cooler temperatures so I can wear these on the trail.
