Geo Tights!

A while back, I wrote a post about one of my most beloved patterns– the Greenstyle Inspire tights. Due to the fire and our subsequent evacuation, I wasn’t able to share the pair I had made in anticipation of that post- like so many other things, they had been sewn, but were awaiting final photos.

Whelp, the opportunity to take and edit those photos finally rolled around, so here they are! Better late than never, right? (that’s totally the story of my life, btw)

This pair is made from a textured knit I picked up from Surge in my last ordering binge- I swear, I tried to resist, but I just couldn’t keep my fingers from pressing the “order” button.

To be totally honest, I was a little worried about the vertical stretch, which was slightly less than is ideal for a pair of leggings, but the print and neutral tones were just too perfect, so I took the risk. The result is that they are totally wearable for everyday- but would not be ideal for working out- I can feel the lack of vertical give, and wouldn’t want to be doing squats in them repeatedly.

They’re just fine though, for my everyday activities, and to make them even more functional, I put in a back zipper pocket (find the hack tutorial HERE). I also did a reverse cover stitch for the side and waistband seams. Its hard to see with the busy print, but I’m happy with the durability it provides. (Don’t ask me why there’s a pinkish reflection in this photo. Its not my undies, I swear! I thought about removing it, but it makes my butt look so damn good, I’m keeping it in here for posterity…)

I’m sporting them in these photos with a cashmere sweater and my black puffer vest- two great examples of items that I really feel I don’t have the materials or skill to sew on my own, and am happy to purchase (don’t worry though- they were both purchased years ago, I’m still true to my Ready to Wear Fast of 2018!)

I felt a little silly giving these photos a whole post of their own- it’s nothing you haven’t seen before, but then I reminded myself that part of the purpose of my blog is to document what I make, even if it’s not a *super-aweome hack* or *just been released*. This is about my sewing journey, and that’s filled with both flashy makes and steadfast favorites that make me happy simply by being a staple in my closet.

What about you? Do you tend to sew the newest, flashiest thing, or prefer to make classics? Drop me a comment below!
