Ahoy!

Do your kids love to play pirates as much as mine? These three little scally-wags love pretending they are on a ship, shooting cannons (marshmellows!) and finding treasure- so when I saw the panels available for the latest round from Peekaboo Fabric Shop, I was almost afraid to show them, knowing they might demand pajamas, tee shirts, AND hoodies from each print!

Fortunately, they let me off the hook with a few tanks and a romper, but I still see that gleam in their eyes….

For the boys, I used the panels to sew the Sideswipe tank from Duck Butt Designs– I made this a lot last summer, and I just love how the back panel wraps around, removing the traditional side seam and adding a great opportunity to do a reverse cover stitch accent.

Not many panels are long enough for my tallest son, but these still have plenty of room for him, which is really nice.

For the (pirate) Princess, I used my panel to make the Brindille and Twig Fringe romper.

Of course, this is supposed to have fringe…. but I got too into my sewing, and forgot to add it!

I did change the neck and arm bands, which are supposed to be sewn down raw, into a binding for a cleaner finish- and although my cover stitch handled it admirably, I was wishing I had the time to figure out the binding attachment that I ordered a while ago, but haven’t played with yet.

She was delighted to have an outfit to match her brothers, and I love that she can get the romper on and off by herself, since we are starting to potty train.

We took photos down by our local river for a “Gilligan’s Island” look- I think these three would feel right at home on a ship or a desert island!
