The Thong Song….

There’s a song on repeat in our house right now, thanks to my husband’s juvenile sense of humor and my sons’ unerring ability to pick up on things they aren’t supposed to hear:

I didn’t anticipate adding the word “thong” to my kids vocabulary, and I hope someday they’ll forgive me for the side effects of all this pattern testing and blogging, but it can’t be undone, so I’m trying to look on the bright side: they’ll make excellent husbands shopping for their wives on Valentine’s Day.

I also didn’t ever think I’d be actually wearing a thong, since I swore them off after a college roommate tried to convert me and failed (turns out she was a stripper, but I didn’t know that when she moved in!). However, I love me some Greenstyle Creations, so I thought I’d give it a shot.

The first time I put them on, I was appalled. It felt like there was a finger up my butt, and NOT in a good way. But I wanted to love them, so I put myself on a 3 day plan and got to work making enough pairs to last a week.

Day 1: Wear thong for 3 hours. Try not to be cranky about the piece of fabric creeping up into your nether regions, resist the urge to pick it out.

Day 2: Wear thong for 6 hours. Forget about it occasionally, but still breathe a sigh of relief when you put on your regular ol bikini cuts.

Day 3: Wear thong on a run. Change thongs, and continue to wear ALL DAY. Forget you’re wearing it for most of the day, and marvel at the lack of show through! Decide more thogns are warranted, and spend another 20 minutes whipping up a few pairs

Day 7: Take final pics. Resolve to do more glute exercises. Husband likes this photo shoot best of all.

Note: Fabric is very important for this pattern. I went through my entire athletic knit stash, and the best matches are those that won’t curl when stretched: the swim knits from Vinegar and Honey, the Fabric Fairy, and Sew Vagabond fared best. Stretch lace from Knitpop.

So, that’s it! Go grab your pattern, while it’s on sale, put yourself on a plan (if needed) and whip some up! And then forget you’ve seen me in my underwear.

I promise not to do this on a regular basis. So it’s safe to follow me on Instagram and Facebook if you’d like to stay connected!

I adore your three-day plan! I’ve tried and re-tried (for only a few minutes) to wear a thong, and I couldn’t get past Day 1’s goal–the urge to pick it out. lol. I might have to give it a shot again…maybe. haha
