The Schedule

As a reminder, here’s our schedule:

Here’s a sneak peek at the schedule:

Day 1: Supplies, Fit, and Cutting Fabric

Day 2: Side seams and inseam

Day 3: Bias Binding

Day 4: Waistband (YOU ARE HERE)

Day 5: Hacks!

Today’s Tasks:

How did yesterday go? Were you able to get the bias binding on OK? Drop me a comment below, and don’t forget to leave a progress photo in the Fabric Fairy Group- there are some really epic shorts taking shape over there!

Today we are finishing up our shorts by sewing the waistband. I love how all the work you did yesterday to sew on that bias tape means that your hemming is already completed- all that’s left is to construct the waistband and sew it onto the shorts!

A couple tips:

  • In the Day 1 video, I showed how I increase the waistband height to make them a higher rise, which I prefer- I don’t like it when my tummy hangs out when I’m running! Make sure to check that out if you are the same way- as drafted, this one hits a couple inches below my belly button.
  • Adding in the clear elastic makes a HUGE difference- you’ll want to do this at a 1:1 ratio with your serger or sewing machine (using a ziag zag). Here’s a little video tutorial on that part specifically:

  • Don’t forget that you can add a zipper to your waistband! You can use the hack I posted HERE On my blog (the hack was for the Super G’s, but it works perfectly for this too), or use the included instructions to create a welt zipper pocket (slightly harder, but really cool!)

Waistband Construction:

Ready to finish these up? Let’s do it!

But WAIT! It’s not over! Tomorrow will feature a round up of  a couple fun HACKS for your Moxis, so stay tuned! And don’t worry- if you’ve had trouble keeping up with the Sew-Along, there will be a couple days over the weekend before we pick our PRIZES!

If you enjoy these videos/tutorials, I encourage you to follow me on YouTube and Pinterest, to see them all in one spot!
